Questions & Answers
When and where will the library vote be held?
The vote will be held from 1 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in the Williamson Middle-School cafeteria at 4184 Miller St., Williamson, NY.
Who can vote?
Any Williamson Central School District resident who is a registered voter is eligible to vote.
Qualified voters must be:

A citizen of the United States,
-
At least 18 years old,
-
A resident of the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote, and
-
An individual who is not otherwise prohibited from voting under the provisions of section 5-106 of the Election Law (for example a person ruled mentally incompetent).
Note:
-
Eligible voters are not required to pay taxes (need not own property within the district in which they reside).

Eligible voters do not have to have children attending the public school.

What About Absentee Ballots and Military Voting?
Applications for an Absentee Ballot may be obtained for the Library Levy to be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. An absentee ballot is provided to any qualified voter who will be unable to vote in person due to illness or physical disability, hospitalization, incarceration (unless incarcerated for conviction of a felony), travel outside the voter's county or city of residence for employment or business reasons, studies, or vacation on the day of the election.
Absentee Ballot Applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be picked up personally by the voter. The voter's ballot must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on May 18.
Military Voter Applications must be received by April 24, 2026 at
5 p.m.
Applications for an Early Mail Ballot may be obtained for the Williamson Central School District Annual Meeting and Election to be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. An early mail ballot is provided to any qualified voter who will not be able to vote in person. Each person must apply for themselves. It is a felony to make a false statement on an application for an early mail ballot, to attempt to cast an illegal ballot, or to help anyone cast an illegal ballot.
Early Mail Ballot Applications must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election, if the ballot is to be picked up personally by the voter. The voter's ballot must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on May 18, 2025.

What are we voting for?

Budget: The public will be voting on a proposition to collect property taxes within the Williamson School District to fund the Williamson Public Library. The library tax and expenses are not part of the school district’s budget. The Library has not had an increase in levy since 2015. The proposed increase is 3% or $13,143.00

Library Facts

The Williamson Public Library has not had an increase in funding since 2015 (11 years). The rising cost of library operations, increases in NYS minimum wage, utilities, and library materials requires an increase of $13,143 at this time to the levy.
