Teen Summer Reading
Summer reading begins Monday, June 28th, and runs through Saturday, August 7th. Teens can either sign up online through our ReadSquared page, or can choose to come in to the library for paper reading logs. Read for time and you will be entered into a drawing for $25 Visa gift cards. The top reader will win a prize pack over the summer.
In addition, we will have many programs over the six weeks of summer reading. These will mostly be make and take programs, and are listed below. All make and take programs require registration, and each kit will be available to pick up throughout the week it is assigned. Pony Bead Animals
Each week during summer reading, sign up for a kit to make a different 90s style bead keychain! Week 1 will be a turtle, week 2 will be a mouse, week 3 will be a parrot, week 4 will be an owl, week 5 will be a penguin, and week 6 will be a ladybug.
Week 2 - Felt Sloth
Using simple sewing skills, create a felt plushie that you can hang from branches!
Week 4 - Popsicle Stick Catapult
In this STEM challenge, use the given materials to design and make the best possible catapult for flinging projectiles.
Week 6 - Mini Ocean Bottles
Capture the ocean in a bottle to wear as a necklace!
Week 1 - Jellyfish Bracelet
This friendship bracelet is named for the unique method used to create it.
Week 3 - Bee Garden
Bees play an important role in ensuing that plants grow and spread. Use this kit to create a mini garden of your own to attract bees!
Week 5 - Book Hedgehog
Make a cute hedgehog friend from an old book.
In Person Event - Tie Dye
On Wednesday, July 21st, from 1-3 pm, we will hold an in-person Tie-Dye Session. Everyone must bring their own item to dye, and we ask that you limit to one item per person. No registrations are necessary, however, we may need to ask people to wait in order to comply with safety guidelines. A rain date will be provided the following Wednesday, the 28th.
